Title: Headlamp Modulator; LED light pods as car reversing light
Post by: jonlukgil on November 21, 2012, 09:21:53 PM
I'm a very happy user of a pair of LED Cree running lights that I bought a year ago - money very well spent as the number of SMIDSYs I got fell through the floor and drivers respond to my prescence far more than they did.

I also have a pair of modulated and converted red bullets on the back.  The effect is hard for me to judge, but at night they clearly differentiate me from cars with one rear light out and I've had no complaints even after being followed on many occasions by Police cars (alas, one of my routes goes past their area HQ).

As I have to turn the CREEs off at night I'll be getting some bullets for the front. I'm also thinking of a headlamp modulator and using some of the miniature or ultimate LED light pods as reversing lights on my car.  I'd prefer to buy from someone I trust and my experience a year ago was excellent.

So, please answer some questions for me:Thanks.

Ian

I doubt any modulator will work with HID, the HID lights using a large energy pulse. Your modulator would be constantly trying to strike the HID.

This would damage the HID and the modulator thanks to the high inrush current.

Hi

As RCE says headlight modulators are for filament bulbs only, they just wouldn't work with a HID which requires a high stable voltage to keep the arc ignited.

As a reversing light neither are really made to project light as they are running lights...You could try one of our BikeVis Aux lights, but it's overkill for reversing.

Sorry to not be of much help.
