How does it work ?

The SMiDSY TSR-2 Visual Turn Signal Reminder is mounted in the cockpit area of your bike and contains an amazingly bright green LED that is visible even in direct sunlight. In addition, the LED is modulated (a flicker effect) that you will notice even out of the corner of your eye. As light levels drop towards dusk, so does the output level of the LED. Once it is dark, the LED will continue to flash at a dim level, but without the modulation, so as not to be distracting when riding at night.

Forgetting to cancel a turn signal (and we all do, sometimes for miles) can be DEADLY. Other road users can assume you are going to make a turn and pull out directly in your path.

How does it work ?

The unit is a small waterproof, microprocessor based module. When you first switch on your turn signal, the unit make a gentle blipping sound with each flash. It also begins to count the number of flashes. If a count of 24 is reached the unit will sound an alarm signal to remind you your turn signal is still on. If the brakes are applied at any point, for example at traffic signals, junctions etc, the counter will reset to zero, thereby avoiding false alerts. The alarm signal is a loud triple frequency waveform designed to penetrate above engine noise and through helmets.

Note: This unit is an updated version of our popular TSR-1 Module.  It is also fully compatible with modern BMW bikes with the 2 wire Brake/Tail Light system and also has the option to mute all sound when the brakes are applied.

On power up, the unit will emit 3 flashes during the self test, then:-

If the temperature is above 4.5°C (40.1°F), all you will see is a very brief and dim flash every 5 seconds.

This is the unit “Heartbeat” which tells you the unit is alive and checking the temperature.

Below 4.5°C (40.1°F), the LED is on continuously.

If temperature is between 3.5 & 4.5°C, (38.3 & 40.1°F) the LED will pulse 4 times every 10 seconds.

If temperature is between 2.5 & 3.5°C, (36.5 & 38.3°F) the LED will pulse 3 times every 10 seconds.

If temperature is between 1.5 & 2.5°C, (34.7 & 36.5°F) the LED will pulse twice every 10 seconds.

If temperature is between 0.5 & 1.5°C, (32.9 & 34.7°F) the LED will pulse once every 10 seconds.

If temperature is below 0.5°C, (32.9 °F) the LED will show a steady light.

The unit begins the warning at 4.5°C (40.1°F) because, even though the air temperature is above freezing, any parts of the road that have been in shade during the day, may well be at freezing point and ice may have formed. So, the moment the device issues a warning, you should treat it seriously.

How does it work ?

ICEwatch is especially designed for motorcycles, with a microprocessor continuously monitoring the surrounding temperature. The ICEwatch has a external sensor that can be mounted away from the warm parts of the motorcycle for accurate measurement.

How is it operated ?

Without any intervention, your Brake Light functions normally. If it is foggy, or you simply would like extra visibility for the rear of your bike, start your bike’s engine and if not already on*, turn on the lights. Now operate your brakes 4 times within 15 seconds. Your Brake Light will flash 3 times in acknowledgement, and the Brake Light will then illuminate at 33% power until power down.

Is my brake light contrast diminished ?

No, if using the Fog Light option, when you apply your brakes, the unit powers off the 33% output for 100 milliseconds before applying full power to your Brake Light, always ensuring maximum contrast. This is actually more noticeable to a following vehicle as the brief “off” flash is very attention getting.

Can it be used with LED brake / tail light clusters ?

Yes & No. If your bike has a 3 wire Brake/Tail light system then the answer is YES, but if it is a 2 wire system (Most modern BMWs), then sorry, the answer is NO. If in doubt, contact us with your bike model/year and we’ll do our best to help.

Is it easy to install ?

Yes, only 4 wires. The unit comes with all necessary wiring and installation hardware.
